Pottery storage

At our last house we had an alcove with built in shelving for pottery storage - since moving pottery has been sitting in boxes where I needed a piece of furniture for it. Finally we found one and I love it. I love the color, I love the wire instead of glass in the doors and I love that I can now use my pottery again. Everything fit except for a few pieces and they're ones I never use anyhow that should really find new homes. I'm so excited that we now have our soup and stew bowls unpacked and a couple of my favorite mugs. And in the stacks of wall art propped up against the walls was this framed fruit label - it was as if we bought them to go together, the teapots too. It's the only piece up on the walls so far in this house and we've been here for 4 months.........I think I'm going to have to step it up and start hanging some art.

Fun DIY earring holder

Recently I decided I needed a place to hang my earrings other than in my wonderful jewelry box that does have great fold out earring holders...........but if something is in the jewelry box it's out of sight, out of mind and I keep the 2 pair of diamond studs in my ears never changing them. So on the wall adjacent to the mirror and where my jewelry box sits in the bathroom I put up this. First I had this fun little shelf I bought at a thrift store where I can hang bracelets.....I can put other 'jewels' like pendants and pins in the little drawers.  I picked up a white frame at Michaels using one of their 50% coupons. I bought some wire at Lowe's, Sam cut it and stapled it in the back of the frame.  Now I can hang (certain types) of earrings on it in full view - I love it. I've bought some cup hooks I'm thinking of putting on the sides of the frame for a few necklaces. This is all the earrings that have made it up there yet, will get some more on it soon.........when I open that jewelry box.......

New decor

I haven't been doing any weaving or dyeing like I should be but have been busy dealing with the roving order and then yesterday we worked on getting the new valances from Country Curtains up in the bedroom and bathroom. We live in the woods so don't really need window coverings but I had been looking at these valances for a few years.....finally I ordered them and am wondering why I didn't do it sooner. They're so sheer they don't take away from the view of the trees at all. I love them. Today we'll work on getting valances up in the guest room/office - they aren't sheer like this but will match the wallpaper border and matching paint job below the chair rail border.

Yesterday was spent mattress shopping - ours wasn't very old but broke down way too quickly. I spent a lot of time laying on mattresses in the store - too many choices but we made the decision to buy a Stearns & Foster, I think it will do wonders for my back when it arrives in around 10 days. Since we were on a roll we bought a Sealy for the guest room bed - I laid on that bed last month, it's the worst bed ever and I'm embarrassed I ever let anyone sleep on it. In 10 days time our guests will be sleeping well too.

Today I'm hoping to make some blueberry jam if I have enough sugar......I thought I had an extra bag but the hummingbirds have been devouring it. Am hoping to spin up some roving samples of the new colorways. Need to get back to dyeing but it's so danged hot - might have to resort to getting out to the dyepots at daybreak and just work until late morning.
