Giveaway - UPDATE Monday, June 5th

UPDATE:  I guess no one was interested in this book since there were no comments so it will donated/given away elsewhere.
I'm still going through things art/craft related that I would feel good about passing on to someone who will truly use them.  I have this book - The Natural Knitter by Barbara Albright that needs to find a new home where it will be appreciated and used. It's in brand new condition.

Please comment to this post if you'd like to be included in the drawing for this book which will be next Monday, June 5th.  USA only as the cost for me to ship elsewhere is just too prohibitive, I'm sorry.

Giveaway

I've got another giveaway. This one is for a kit called Holiday Flock.  It's a knit sheep ornament kit. It doesn't say anywhere how many ornaments it makes but there are 4 bells so I'm making a guess that it makes 4 sheep ornaments.........don't hold me to that though since I don't know for sure.

So, if you're interested and live in the US or Canada please leave a comment to this post. I'll pick a name next Wednesday the 15th using the random generator site.  If there's a way to contact the winner next week I'll do that in addition to posting the name here on the blog, if there isn't a way to contact the winner please be sure to check back to see if you've won.

Blog Giveaway

In my continued effort to find homes for things I'm not using I'm selling many but will occasionally have a giveway on this blog.

This is Colour Gamp Kit by Laura Fry is a giveway. It looks to be a 3 yard warp for making two pastel color gamps, one in plain weave, one in twill........or whatever you'd like to weave. Maybe you'd rather weave a towel, or a table runner, or breadcloths. It's a wound and tied warp along with paper bobbins in the same colors to be used as weft - the instructions say there is enough weft so that each color can be woven square (yes, it includes Laura's instructions). Laura offered these kits many years ago and I did weave this one, the colors of the spectrum one and the naturals one. This particular kit I bought for a friend but she never wove it and then stopped weaving, she gave it back to me a few years ago but I've never felt the need to weave a second one so I'll pass it on to one of you blog readers.

Just comment on this post if you're interested. Next Monday, the 27th I'll use random.com to pick a winner. Be sure there's a way for me to get a hold of you or check back on this blog later Monday to see if you're a winner.  Due to postage costs this giveaway is only good within the US & Canada.

Giveaway

I'm slowly going through stash in my studio and finding homes for items I know I'll never use. I'm being overcome due to too much stash.......much of it I'll never use.  I've found homes for some things here local but would like to offer some up on my blog over the next few months. So, here's a holiday giveaway.

I was gifted with this sashiko pillow kit from a Japanese business associate of my husbands over 15 years ago (the president of that Japanese company also gifted me with a wooden box of bits & bobs of Japanese fabrics, some I've used, others I will use in the future). Anyhow back to this kit - the only reason I have not stitched this is because I'm not a blue person, it's an incredible deep shade of indigo. Instructions are in Japanese but it's pretty self explanatory and details on how to stitch sashiko can be found on the internet. It includes the fabric for the front and back of the pillow (front printed, back plain), a zipper, the thread, a needle and thimble.......and instructions in Japanese.

If you're interested in this kit and live within the US (due to postage costs for me outside the states) please comment to this post and make sure I can reach you either through blogger, by leaving your email address or checking back on my blog December 7th to see if you're the winner of this giveaway. I'll be using a random generator to pick the winner from those posting.  I'm hoping someone will be interested in this kit, it's really nice, it just won't get stitched here.

More freebies.

I've got a few more giveaways for anyone in the US or Canada - just leave me a comment with what you're interested in and a way of getting in touch with you. I also still have a few other items from my post of June 25th that are still available - the Hummingbird applique pattern, the Notion Nanny pattern and the Welcome Quilt pattern.  I'm working on passing on things that someone else may be interested in rather than letting them languish in my studio.

This pattern has been spoken for - it's no longer available
Sewing Bird pattern - pincushion. This is really cute - I made several of these for gifts

Veronica Pocketbook - I never made this one

The Urban Knitter book by Lily Chin.  I got this in a raffle basket and won't use any of the patterns but maybe someone else will. It's autographed.

I spent a good portion of my day ridding the studio of paper. Tons of old catalogs will be heading to recycling along with a huge bag of old weaving guild newsletters. I found I never have gone back to look at them so no need for them to clutter up the space. I also had several notebooks from Convergences and ANWG conferences - I've never opened them since putting them together. I now have a nice supply of empty notebooks and many page protectors that I can use for weaving project records. Hmm, what shall I tackle next.........

Not happy about big copter flying over - can't see any smoke plumes and haven't been able to find out if there's a new fire.....hoping not.  It was the giant snorkel copter that sucks water in to drop on a fire rather than using a bucket.  It went over yesterday but was gone quite a while before coming back so I was assuming it went to a fire west of us in Agness......but this was a very short trip before it came back over the house.  And it's such a big copter it shakes the house, there's no missing it flying over. Have I said yet today that I hate fire season..........well, you haven't heard it but yes, I have said it to Bailey, our golden, he and I discuss the heat and fire danger every single day. Approximately 7 more weeks of fire season.......it may very well be longer than that but we often have at least one good rainfall toward the end of September that makes me breathe a little easier.

Free chenille

UPDATE: The chenille is spoken for - it's found a home - hurray.

In my continuing effort to find homes for 'stuff' as I'm feeling like it's all closing in on me I've got a GIVEAWAY.  This is rayon chenille, 500 yards per pound, so it's fairly thick. I bought it years ago but in reality I don't weave with this size of chenille so it's time for it to find a new home and be turned into something wonderful.  It feels incredibly yummy which is why I've hung onto it for so long but how long can I keep it around just for fondling.  The skeins do have 2-3 ties on them but they may be a challenge since the skeins are so large and chenille worms so rather than selling this I'm giving it away for the cost of shipping via USPS Priority Mail (Canada it will go First Class).  Just put it on a swift or squirrel cage and take it slow winding it into a ball - it may or may not take a little patience.....since I haven't wound any into balls I'm not sure, it could go quickly with no issues.

I've got 3 skeins of this - first to claim any or all of them gets them......I hope someone wants them......please, please......
1 lb 4 oz skein
1 lb 4 oz skein
1 lb 5 oz skein

If you're interested drop me a note with your email so I can send you a Paypal invoice for the shipping costs. Don't forget to send me your mailing address too.

NOTE: this is open only to US or Canadian folks

A giveaway

UPDATE:  only one person wanted a pattern, the Folk Art Fish, so that one is gone. The others are still available until they find a home.

In that never ending chore of going through things to lighten my load I've found these quilt patterns.....I bought......never used.......and I've finally figured out I will never use them. So, I'm giving them away.  If more than one person is interested I'll pull names Monday morning. Just leave a comment to this post with which pattern(s) you're interested in. Be sure there's a way for me to contact you or else check back on Monday morning to see if you got one or more of them.  All of these are patterns only - no fabric or supplies included.

Folk Art Fish - instructions for making a wallhanging, pillow and framed picture

Hummingbird - contains applique designs for a wall hanging

Notion Nanny - Rag doll with outfit and instructions

Welcome Quilt - directions for Welcome kit, large picture on the left

A bit of sunshine in my day........

Today has been a stinky day trying to find updates on the fire, trying to make a plan, just trying to stay calm. The highlight of my day was finding out that I won a giveway at Starfish Cottage Blog. I found Kristy's blog through another blog I follow and have been loving seeing her beach inspired décor.....and have even bought some burlap ribbon in preparation for decorating some mason jars.

Anyhow, check out her blog - even if you're not into decorating in seashore colors you'll love seeing her style and possibly using some of her ideas in your house.  She's also got a wonderful etsy shop.

So, what I won was one of these sets - I'm not sure which one, I don't care, I love them both. The tote bag will be a great addition to the beach cottage - I'll use it often and who can't use tea towels.

Not much to say about the fire - getting very little info other than hearing that tonight or tomorrow there may be some level 2 evacuations added to the level 1 in effect now. Copters shake the house flying back and forth. I haven't seen the retardant tankers but know they're available - heard from friend Margie who is south of me that they're going over her house so they're taking a different route to the fire from Medford.  Just saw something scroll across the bottom of the tv about a fire in Weed (CA) that is forcing evacuations from 3 communities - hasn't CA been hit enough with the continuing devastation from the Happy Camp fire just over the border from us. Fire season has been way too long this year.........

Giveaway winner

There were only 2 people that commented on the post with the giveway for this book.....guess no one has a need for a great beading book or they've already got it.  I put the 2 into random.org and #1 came up as the winner.  Tobie you've won the book. Email me with your complete name and mailing address and I'll get it out in the mail to you - cindiesam at yahoo dot com.  Congrats and happy beading!

Giveaway

In cataloging all my fiber/craft books last week I found a few duplicates.  I decided to have a giveaway of one of them.  The Beader's Companion by Judith Durant & Jean Campbell, published by Interweave Press.  My name is on the inside cover so it's not brand new, suitable to gift.....unless the recipient doesn't care that my name is in it.......  How did I get 2 of these great reference books you ask?  I had one, lent it out and forgot to write down who I lent it to, couldn't find who had it, so I bought another........then 6 months later the missing one showed up.

So, if you have an interest in a basic beading book just comment to this post, comment anything you'd like, what your weather is like, what you're up to today, what you like to create, doesn't matter.  I'll use random.org to pull a winner's name on Tuesday evening, that's August 12th. I'll post the winner's name, if there's a way to get in touch with the winner I'll also email to get a mailing address. If there's no way to contact the winner I'll hope that person checks back and see their name as the winner and contact me. If I don't hear from the winner within 2 weeks I'll pull another name.

UPDATE:  Toby you have won the book, please email me with your complete name and mailing address -  cindiesam at yahoo dot com

Tax Time Giveaway

To celebrate finishing up our taxes and getting them e-filed this afternoon (phew) I have a giveaway.  I found this extra lone little inkling ornament/desk décor that I made for holiday 2012 gifts......not sure why I had an extra or why I forgot I had it. Anyhow this one is "She Sells Sea Shells"......made out of a handwoven inkle band, adorned with sandcastles and shells. All you need to do is leave a comment to this post on what you love about the beach, whether it be an ocean beach, a lake beach or river beach. On Monday morning I'll draw a name using random.org and announce the winner.  Be sure to check back to see if you've won as many times there is no way for me to contact winners.

Winners announced

Here are the winners of the Valentine pin giveaway
1 - Thistle Rose Weaving
2 - P (Pat)
3 - Sue O

But there were only 5 comments for these and I feel bad about the other 2 who didn't win - Lesley Ann and Tinker Tots, so I have a small gift for you too - a few of my handmade stitch markers.

Now I need mailing addresses so I can get these out in the mail. Thistle Rose I have yours, P I've got you covered too but I need everyone else's. I'll try to contact you but if you haven't heard from me because I have no contact information please email your address to cindiesam at yahoo dot com.

I'll get them out in the mail as soon as I've got the addresses and can get out the driveway.........today on the schedule is the culvert at the end of our 1/3 mile drive being replaced from the log truck turnover in the ice last month so unless they finish early (or don't show today like scheduled) I won't get out to the post office until tomorrow.

Blogiversary Giveaway

Once again I missed my Blogiversary - on July 4th it was 5 years since my first post.........have I said anything important in 5 years, eh, maybe not, but that's the way it goes.

I was thinking it was time for another giveaway from my stash anyhow so in honor of my 5 years of blogging I'm doing it now. I have two great books that I kept thinking I'd get back to but after this many years I realize that's just not going to happen, I just don't have enough hours in my day. I did make a lip balm and lotion out of The Herbal Body Book for gifts one Christmas. Both books are like brand new except for my book label inside the cover. I never used Perfumes, Splashes & Colognes.

All you have to do is write a comment to this post telling me which book you'd like to be in the drawing for, if you're interested in both books tell me that so I put you in both drawings. I'll use random.org to pick the winners next Monday morning (July 22nd). I'll post the winners at some point that day. Please make sure I can't reach you via email for your mailing address if you're a winner - either thru your blog or by leaving an email address in your comment.

Fibersphere winner!

The winner of the Fibersphere giveaway is Denise O'Rourke - I'll be contacting you privately Denise. This wasn't a really successful giveway......as in not many were interested, that's ok - thank you to the six of you that were.
