Our first snow

This morning it seems fitting that the first snow of the year is on the first day of the year. It's snowed in the mountains already this winter but this is the first snow to fall on the valley floor..........well, at least I think it's on the valley floor, we're a bit higher in elevation than the valley floor. I woke up and there was no snow, in the time it took to let my teabag seep this is what it looked like. The forecast is for snow all day but who knows if that will happen, our weather forecasters are wrong all the time except in the summer when it's sunny and hot every single day.

No resolutions for the new year here - they're just a disappointment in my life when I don't follow through. I'll do as I've tried to do this past year, be the best person I can be in 2017.  I'm sure others were up late celebrating from the sound of what must have been pipe bombs (too loud for even the biggest guns) going off nearby. The biggest booms were coming from the pot grow that runs along the common driveway for us and three other homesteads, the property is actually accessed the next driveway down the road. (I won't even get started on what the big pot grows are doing to the landscape and crime in the area) New Year's Eve is just another night for us - no big deal, New Year's Day just another day - no big deal. No, this is not a continuation of my bah-humbug holiday mood this year........it's how I've always felt about New Year's. But there is always a bright spot for the new year - time to put out the new calendars which I did first thing this morning.....I love that about New Year's Day.

Happy 2016

Another year has come and gone..........no new year's resolutions here, they just set me up for failure so I do what I do all year long, re-evaluate and work toward change......I don't always get there but I do set goals and work toward them. Right now my biggest issue will be remembering to write 2016 when I write checks until it's ingrained in my little pea brain......

2014

2014 - May it be safe, happy and full of fibery goodness. No long post today with my hopes of the new year - just depressing to go back and read about all the things I never got to, changes never made, so I'm just not going there this year. My only hope is that the year is a great one for myself, my family, my friends and everyone out there reading this............and that blogger will start cooperating again in letting me upload pictures. I finally got the clipart loaded last night after going back and editing my post several times.....so far this morning it's not working. Not sure what the issue is, this happened the first week of 2013 and went on for months with no help from blogger, I eventually was able to publish the text and then go to edit it and get the pictures uploaded........I'll keep trying with this new issue........sheesh. 

 

(update - I just went back to try and get the clipart to load with editing my post and it worked - might be back to doing that until the blogger issue is fixed - I'll be happy if I can get photos up doing that rather than no photos at all)

 

 

Happy New Year

It's New Year's somewhere so I'm wishing all my blog readers a Happy and Safe New Year early.........as we rarely stay up past 10pm........

Happy New Year

2012 has come and gone, does time go by faster as we get older? Sure feels like it. It's now 2013, the start of a new year for us all. My wish is that's it's an incredible one for you all. No resolutions from me this year, if you have nothing better to do go read my post of Dec 31, 2011.....ditto what I said then......pretty much the sale old stuff.....good intentions......got side tracked along the way.....but I'm pretty much ok with it.......I did accomplish a lot, learned a lot and enjoyed the year.
 
The waves have been pretty big this past week, even more driftwood, really they're trees from up the Coquille River, on the beach than usual. Tides have been high, even around low tide the waves have been blocking much of the beach coming all the way up to the dunes.

Bailey is saying do we really have to go back home now? Yeppers, time to get back to the every day, every day, orders to ship, scarves to get ready to ship for judging into an exhibit, Sam back to work. It's been a great week on the coast filled with a little rain, quite a bit of sun, reading, relaxing, playing games, a bit of knitting.

 

I have to mention in particular that on Sunday we took a ride up to Florence, it's a quaint little town 1 1 /2 hours north of us. It's always fun to go through the galleries and shops. We love to have lunch at Lovejoys Restaurant and English Tea Room but when I checked the website the night before I saw that they are closed Sunday & Monday. Oh well, what could we do, just find another place to eat, after all the town is filled with incredible restaurants. When we got into Old Town I told Sam we should go by Lovejoys just in case they decided to open since it's a holiday weekend - the flag was out, open sign on the door - whoo hoo. We had the Royal Tea, might as well go all out. If one wasn't interested in tea, scones, savories, sweets there are many other items on the menu, it's not just a tea house. The salmon bisque is worth the trip itself. If you're on the mid-Oregon coast be sure to stop in for lunch. The food is yummy, the owner's delightful. Next time up there we will have to check out the antique shops, a row of them on each side of US101.......and have lunch at Lovejoys.
